Eminem was the first rapper to be taken very seriously. He's the first one, I think, that sounded great. Anyway, also look at Eminem's background. He came from a trailer park and he had a very rough upbringing, so to see him as superstar is very heroic and inspiring - and not to mention overcoming racial prejudice in hip-hop.
