It's basically just a remote play device that's officially by Sony themselves. You can remote play PS4 and PS5 games on your phone already if you don't wish to purchase the Playstation Portal. I think it's hilarious that the abbreviation for this is PSP, I just wish it was a standalone handheld like the PSP was though. I might get it in the future when the price drops, my phone is a bit outdated and might not run the games all that great. Plus I already own all the PS consoles/handhelds that have been released, I might as well get the Portal to complete my collection when it gets released. :P You can read more about it on Sony's blog.

Personally, I think it is not really necessary to have a PS no matter how good it is if you are not into console gaming. It doesn't mean anything to PC or Mobile gamers mostly because they have chosen their path and they are extremely happy and satisfied with it.

When PSN was taken down for over a month in the summer of 2011? I had friends who switched to Xbox 360 during this outage because they couldn't get online to play Call of Duty.  I remember this well and it really sucked at the time not being able to get onto PSN or play any games online.  Were you affected by the outage? What'd you do in the time the network was down?
