It is a freemium game, which means you can play for free but you will have to spend money to access certain features. The game has a native token called SAND, you can purchase SAND and use your SAND tokens to buy LAND, which is an NFT-powered virtual space. When you have LAND, you can build your own world and monetize your activities. The game is similar to Minecraft.
