Early access to iOS software

If you can't wait to get your hands on all of Apple's next-generation iOS features, you can sign up to become a beta tester.

The Apple Beta Software Program lets you try out pre-release software and give feedback, which Apple can use to improve the software's quality, find issues and fix them. As a member, you can enroll your Mac or iOS device and every time a public beta is released, as well as subsequent updates, you'll be able to access them from the Mac App Store or via iOS Software Update.

The Apple Beta Software Program is open to anyone with a valid Apple ID who accepts the Apple Beta Software Program Agreement during the sign-up process. If you've ever downloaded an app or music track, you'll have an Apple ID. If you don't have an Apple ID, you can create one via the App Store. The program is free to join.

To get started on the Program, set up an Apple ID if you don't already have one, and go to beta.apple.com.

Click Sign up and enter your Apple ID and password. Sign in.

Once you've signed in, both the MacOS and iOS public betas come with a built-in Feedback Assistant app. This is found on the second page of the Home screen on an iOS device or from the Dock on a Mac.

The Feedback Assistant app is also available from the help menu of any app by choosing 'Send Feedback’. If you find an issue or something doesn't work you can send your feedback directly to Apple with Feedback Assistant.

Membership does come with a couple of caveats, however. The public beta software may "contain errors or inaccuracies and may not function as well as commercially released software," explains Apple. Apple also added that the public beta software contains confidential information.

"Don’t install the public beta software on any systems you don't directly control or that you share with others. Don’t blog, post screen shots, tweet, or publicly post information about the public beta software, and don't discuss the public beta software with or demonstrate it to others who are not in the Apple Beta Software Program," Apple stresses.

If you want to restore to a previous version of macOS or iOS you restore your device from the backup you created before installing the public beta. You can also leave the program at any time via Apple's Unenroll page. This will take you through the steps needed to disconnect your Apple ID.

5 'Must have' game applications if you are an android user

The official Android Playstore is so huge that no one can keep tabs on the applications that are added into their list everyday. Here, I bring before you a list of 5 'must have' gaming applications' for every android users. I have compiled this list out of my own personal experience with different games that I have tried over time. So, without further ado,

1. Doodle Army 2: Mini Militia - My current favorite, this tops our list because it is a multiplayer combat game that can be played over a local wifi connection. You can train yourselves in the single player mode and then connect with other players and select your own battle field before you begin the match. Throughout the game, you can experience the urge to hunt your enemy down, kill them and capture their weapons and then proceed further in the game.

2. Smash Fu - This game is all about a better interface that packs the excitement and experience of Piano Tiles, but in a more innovative way. The sole aim of the game is to break as many as bricks as possible without touching the dynamites, as the speed of the interface accelerates. In short, this a a must have application for all the tile smashers out there.

3. Bump Sheep - I have never come across a more addicting two player game than this. A balanced amount of strategy and reflex will help you score against your opponent in this game. It is about choosing where to place your sheep (they come in two different colors and in different sizes) and they have to push against each other to reach the other end of the board. The player with the most number of points will reap victory at the end.

4. Alto's Adventure - Despite the same old concept of running around, overcoming obstacles and jumping high up to reach out to gold coins, Alto's Adventure is a heavy application that packs a rich visual graphic experience with original gameplay background score music. Set in a picturesque snow covered village, Alto sets out to capture free roaming Illamas that once represented the pride of the village. If you are using one of those high end Android phones with decent specifications, then go for this one.

5. Score Hero - If you are a football fan, this game is sure to keep you engaged. You have to pass, shoot and score through a number of challenging levels and bring your HEROs name into the hall of fame. As much as the gameplay experience, the graphics and the replay models are amazing and adds to the richness of the game.

Pokemon Go Tracking site, Creator Sends Open Letter To Niantic

Poke-vision creator Yang Liu has described his disappointment regarding Pokemon Go’s current state in an open letter published via Medium. Explaining he was “never too excited about Pokemon Go” Liu conceded it became the “most amazing, yet simple thing” he’d seen in gaming, and he pronounced the effect of Pokemon Go has been “phenomenal.”

“You’ve simply captured all of our hearts with Pokemon Go, Niantic,” wrote Liu. “But then, you broke it all too quickly.”

Liu insists that Pokevision was built as a stop gap solution to Pokemon Go’s inoperative in-game tracking system and claims the team “had every intention in closing it down the minute that Pokemon Go’s own tracker restored functionality.”

“We made Pokevision not to cheat,” wrote Liu. “We made it so that we can have a temporary relief to the in-game tracker that we were told was broken.”

According to Liu Pokevision had grown to almost 50 million unique users, seeing 11 million daily before it was closed at Niantic’s request.

“Half of the player base of Pokemon Go stopped by – and they didn’t do so to cheat,” Liu continued. “The game was simply too unbearable to play in its current state for many.”

Liu also noted that since the closure of Pokevision and the disabling of the in-game tracker Pokemon Go’s user ratings on iOS and Android have plunged.

The update Liu refers to, which altered the game’s ‘Nearby’ interface and has stopped players from being able to use supplementary third-party apps to track Pokemon, was released over the weekend.

Niantic explained the reasons for the tracker’s removal yesterday, claiming it has removed the ‘3-step’ display “in order to improve upon the underlying design.”

“The original feature, although enjoyed by many, was also confusing and did not meet our underlying product goals,” said Niantic in its statement. “We will keep you posted as we strive to improve this feature.”

Niantic also pointed the finger at third-party services for the decision.

“We have limited access by third-party services which were interfering with our ability to maintain quality of service for our users and to bring Pokemon Go to users around the world.”

Niantic recently shed light on what fans can expect from Pokemon Go in the future during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

Windows 10 to Come Preloaded With Candy Crush Upon Launch

Microsoft on Thursday while announcing the return of its classic preloaded Windows games such as Solitaire, Hearts, and Minesweeper in Windows 10, also announced King Digital Entertainment's very popular Candy Crush game will come preloaded with the OS as well.

Microsoft in its Xbox Wire blog post added that the popular candy-matching video game would automatically be installed if users download or upgrade to Windows 10 during the launch. "Windows Phone users have been enjoying Candy Crush Saga since its launch on the platform in December, and later this year, all Windows 10 owners will be able to experience the hit game that's swept the mobile world like wildfire."

The Redmond-based tech firm further added that Candy Crush is one of the first ones from King Digital Entertainment to arrive on Windows 10. Also, the video game would include "cross-play options" for Android and iOS devices.

In February, Candy Crush Saga users reportedly spent a whopping $1.3 billion (roughly Rs. 8,070 crores) on in-app purchases in 2014. Most of the purchases are said to have been for extra lives, extra moves, colour bombs, lollipop hammers, and gold bars.

Microsoft earlier this week also announced various editions of the new Windows 10 OS - Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Mobile, Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Enterprise, Windows 10 Education, and Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise.

The firm, as promised earlier, also announced that the full versions of Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 Pro will be available as a free upgrade to qualifying Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 devices. It's worth noting that the free upgrade is only available in the first year after launch.
