Watch Dogs: Legion

About

Watch Dogs Legion is the third game in Ubisoft's open-world, third-person, action adventure series.

Description

Overview

Watch Dogs: Legion is an open world action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Toronto Studios and published by Ubisoft Entertainment for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Google Stadia.

Plot

Taking place several years after the first two Watch Dogs titles. The London branch of DedSec, led by Sabine Brandt and her AI partner Bagley, are forced underground after a rogue hacker group known as "Zero-Day" sets off multiple bombs across the city and frames DedSec for the explosions. This terrorist act leads to the rise of the surveillance state where a private company called Albion takes over policing duties and a conglomeration of British intelligence agencies called SIRS uses the updated ctOS 3.0 to spy on everyone without their consent under the excuse of national security. Anyone suspected of criminality is either sent to a prison camp or deported elsewhere in Europe. With nowhere else to go, Sabine flees to a safehouse "up North," outside of London, and hacks into the ctOS profiler to start recruiting new allies for DedSec to free London from the police state that has conquered it.

Gameplay

Unlike the first two Watch Dogs titles, there is no single playable protagonist. Instead, players must recruit a person from the streets of London and persuade them to join the group, then they can control that character until they are killed or dismissed. Each character will have a focus in one of three areas: combat, stealth, or hacking. On top of that, the character may have unique attributes, such as having access to a motorbike by default, or able to enter a police station without drawing suspicion. Most characters will have access to a wide variety of lethal and non-lethal weaponry to take down enemies that cross their path.

Other differences include:

  • Because the UK has very different gun laws than the US, most characters won't have guns at their disposal aside from a "less-than-lethal" shock pistol, encouraging players to find ways around using guns to accomplish an objective. Even the few other guns that can be purchased with Tech points will be LTL versions. Enemies will usually keep their guns holstered and engage the player in melee combat unless the player or a drone fires upon them. Some recruitable characters may carry heavier weaponry as part of their kit, like a shotgun or an LMG.
  • Closed-circuit boxes can be blown up, causing their linked doors to fail open, instead of being forced to manually interact with them.
  • Dogs no longer exist in the game world.
  • Some characters can summon a large Cargo Drone and ride on top of it, allowing them to bypass otherwise difficult obstacles in multiple areas.
  • Instead of the Car-On-Demand service from the first two games, some characters may own a car that they can summon near themselves. However, players can still hijack nearly any car near them.

Has anyone got this game yet? I'm looking forward to playing it but since it's a Ubisoft game, I'll be waiting a few weeks as the price is going to drop massively.

The first one was good (from what I watched, never played it). The second one, which I did play, wasn't great. It was too cheesy. This one looks like it has gone back to being like the first one which is great.

Idea was good but the execution was poor. From what I've read, the characters aren't good because there are just too many.

And the game in general does not run too well apparently on all platforms. Defo waiting for it to drop down to £15 before buying it I think
