Is it a monopoly, no. Is market consolidation bad, very much yes. Sorta weird to see everyone in here saying it's dumb to worry instead of advocating for trust busting. Oligopolies are also bad and we have been close or in the begining stages of it in gaming for the last 5 years.

We'll see what's the answer from Sony to this purchase. They must wake up if they don't want to lose market there.

Sony have completed a few purchases of their own but there's no way it's going to be close to what Microsoft paid for Activision Blizzard in approximately $70 billion. It's a complete madness if you would ask me. I saw some rumours that Ubisoft wants to sell. If that's true, Sony should be on alert.

Sony has a lot of power in the market already that thinking that they will just give up easily is out of the picture. You know that it is true and when you look at the moves that Microsoft are making, it points towards the fact that they just want to feel along and capture some from Sony.
