If you only had one game to play for 5 years
I'm sure we've all got a favourite game but what game do you think you could play for the next 5 years? You'll be allowed no other games at all, just this one single game on a platform of your choice. I honestly think that GTA V would get my vote for this one, the expanse of the map, the amount of little niggly storylines and achievements to hit would probably keep me really busy and whilst I'm sure those five years wouldn't fly by I don't think I'd get bored of playing it.

What game gets your vote? Why that one?

Rocket League
I absolutely love this game. I am addicted and play it almost everyday for a good couple of hours. Who else plays it and on what platform?

You probably noticed that during the last few patches, traffic lights in the American Truck Simulator have had some considerable tweaks. From last year June, our research department started work on this project, but there were a few issues we would need to overcome. One of the main problems was to find a system for US traffic lights in our game, as there are many differences found in every state, region, and cities. MUTCD defines the guidelines for the whole United States, but since every State can adjust it, you see where the problem lies. We agreed to make a compromise and choose those most commonly used (which means 50%+ coverage) to be made and implemented in our game.

An (un)expected result was that by mass replacement of the old lights, almost every junction and intersection in American Truck Simulator had broken. Lights colliding with other objects, signs and street name signs had also moved to pretty funny places... good times (especially for our map designers who had to fix this mess).

But in the end, we managed to overcome these issues and with update 1.35, every State (CA, NV, AZ, NM, OR and upcoming WA) will have real unique traffic lights. So that means you can now enjoy even more authentic roads, with more options now available for possible future additions, like the Flashing Yellow Arrow.

Toy Story 4 Trailer Reunites Woody And Bo Peep
We’ve seen early teasers, and character introductions – and now we’ve finally got our first proper look at Toy Story 4, revealing more on the plot and characters we can look forward to in Pixar’s long-awaited fourquel. And rest assured, considering the high that Toy Story 3 went out on, it looks like this extension of the series won’t besmirch the legacy of Buzz and Woody. Watch the trailer here.

As the teaser suggest, this one hinges on a new member joining the gang – Bonnie’s arts-and-crafts project Forky, voiced by Tony Hale (aka Arrested Development’s Buster Bluth). As her favourite plaything, he means the world to her – but his identity crisis sees him fall from the family car on a road trip. Woody goes on a rescue mission that separates him from the rest of the gang, and brings him back to his old flame, Bo Peep, at a funfair. Then the Beach Boys – ‘God Only Knows’ starts playing, and we have no idea what else the trailer included from there because the tears started flowing. From what we could make out, there’s a villainous new doll called Gabby Gabby, the rest of Bonnie’s toys hatch a plot to find Woody, and Woody ponders a life away from his owners. Expect another emotional rollercoaster from the toys you know and love.

Toy Story 4 comes from director Josh Cooley, who previously helmed Inside Out short Riley’s First Date, and will arrive in UK cinemas on 21 June.

SCS Blog: Washington: Logging cliff road
Servicing the logging industry (together with farming industry) will be an important aspect of the in-game economy for the upcoming Washington map expansion. If you are looking for a more challenging drive, you will not only come across beautiful open roads but also winding and dusty ones leading through the thick forests of Washington State. The most interesting example of this is the logging cliff road used to transport tons of logs and wood chips as well as to haul heavy logging machinery.

Our map designers also have a new tool and process for scenic background creations available. This will help us create an even more immersive environment in our games. We used them extensively while creating this hill-side road. You can see the results in this fantastic panoramic screenshot gallery.

How To Overclock Your Graphics Card
We’ve all gone a bit giddy over Nvidia’s new 900-series graphics cards. The GTX 980 and 970 are both massive overclockers—the 970 overclocked can run almost as fast as the reference 980—and those overclock boosts help separate them from the still-fast AMD R9 cards and Nvidia GTX 700 series. But you don’t need a new graphics card to be able to indulge in a little GPU tweakery. If your card is a year or two (or three) old, overclocking is the best way to squeeze a little more life (and higher graphics settings) out of it without spending any money.

Years ago, eager overclockers did genuinely run the risk of cooking their chips. Overclocking wasn't the most user-friendly process. But now times have changed. There are so many safeguards in place in your silicon that you’d have to really try to brick your hardware while doing some standard overclocking. There is still a little risk to overclocking, however: depending on which aftermarket vendor made your card, you may void your warranty. If anything goes wrong, you'll probably just crash your machine and need to restart; you're unlikely to do serious damage to your graphics card unless your overclock keeps the card at dangerous temperatures for long periods of time.

Every GPU is different, and some cards are champion overclockers. I was able to break the 1.5GHz barrier with my GTX 970 G1 Gaming edition, partly because Gigabyte specially check their overclocking card’s chips to make sure they’re the ones with the most headroom. I was able to get mighty close to 1.5GHz with my reference GTX 980 too, but the extra cooling of the Gigabyte card meant my GTX 970 also runs an awful lot cooler.

Temperature is something to think about before you start tweaking your GPU. If you’ve got an AMD Radeon R9 290X with a stock cooler then your card is likely to be running at some 93ºC under load already. You’re not going to get anywhere overclocking that beastly GPU.

Gaming for Prisoners?
We all make mistakes in life, so why not some mercy - I mean, given with at least good behavior?  Anyway, though, I am against keeping the gaming selection to only kid games, as is the case I have seen.  I mean, I am cynical about the idea that games cause violence.
